I was inspired to paint Yemanya after a trip to Mexico in 2013 when I had an opportunity to swim in an underground river in a cave called a cenote. This is also around the time I was beginning to go through my divorce and Yemanya helped give me the strength and faith to move forward with courage and dignity.
