This canvas was started in my previous studio about 8 or 9 years ago! I had 3 canvases this size that I started an acrylic background on and never developed. If you look closely, you can see a light blue paw print from my departed cat Lucy in the bottom left.
This painting became a journey of studying the famous musical artist from the 80's, Cyndi Lauper.
Her expression and physical gesture is fun and animated.
There is a real cassette tape super glued onto this canvas and the majority of this portrait was rendered with layers of oil paint until I had her likeness exactly as I wanted it.
